Traffic Jam - Melissa Groeling Review 6******I was given this ARC by the author for an honest review.WOW!! This book is an emotional roller-coaster! I absolutely LOVED it! I struggled to put it down. It's not very long, 277 pages, but the pull of the story kept me hooked!Val is a typical 16 year-old teenager. She is a fantastic character. She is the middle child in the family. I don't know if it's because I'm also a middle child, but I identified with her. She is what most people would call a nerd, always studying or reading. I found Val to be extremely brave, even though she did a few stupid things. But, if I had been in her shoes, I suppose that I would have done something similar. After all, we are only human and sometimes fear, and the desire to protect, makes us do stupid things. I found her character very likeable and felt that she would make a great sister or friend.Melissa Groeling has written a fantastic piece of literature which highlights the all too frightening world of human trafficking. It has been written very sympathetically, but it still carries an emotionally charged punch. The emotions that Val felt - confusion, disbelief, fear - seemed to seep from the pages. This book has brought me to tears in a few places, so be prepared with a tissue! However, that could just be me being an over-sensitive idiot! That being said, this book is fantastic, and Melissa has found a fan friend in me. I look forward to reading more of her books in the future. I highly recommend this YA book if you are looking for an emotionally charged YA book that will sink it's teeth into you and not let you go, even when you've finished the book! - Lynn Worton
