Lily's grandmother dies in suspicious circumstances, and Lily's world is turned upside down when she finds out that she is from a long line of witches. Along with her eleven young family members, Lily will have to learn how to wield this new found power, and learn fast. Lily is the most powerful witch in over five centuries, but she is untrained and uninitiated. The vampires have found out about Lily and her family, and they are coming to claim the Moon's blood. Lily's only saving grace is when she meets Mason, but has she fallen in love with the enemy? Can Lily save her coven? And can she survive with her heart and neck intact? As I began to read this story, I was surprised to find out that Lily was 21. I had her "voice" in my head as a teenager. She came across as a bit flighty (in my opinion), and used too many exclamation marks in her thoughts and words. However, Lily undergoes a life changing event with the death of her Grandmother. As I read further into the story, she begins to mature and become more adult. By the end of the book, she had truly become a force to be reckoned with! Mason is a great character. I think I've fallen for his green eyes! The rest of the cast of characters are well written too - the vampires scare me! There is a lot of action that will keep you glued to the pages. The ending sent chills up my back, and now I'm wondering when the sequel will be released, as I would like to know what's going to happen next! This book seems to be aimed at the teen reader, but I recommend this book if you like reading about witches and vampires.
