When 18 year old Kate moves to her mother's home town of Eden to fulfil her mother's dying wish, she is unprepared for what is in store for her. After a freak accident in which a girl dies, Kate meets Henry. He proclaims himself to be Hades, the God of the Underworld. Kate disbelieves him until he brings the girl back to life. Henry offers Kate a deal to keep her mother alive. He will only do so if Kate agrees to stay with him and pass seven tests. If she passes these tests, she will be made a goddess.I loved this story! It is a modern and refreshing twist on the Greek myths. Kate is a teenager who is facing the loss of her mother to cancer. You can almost feel her anguish, it's that tangible. Henry is Hades, the God of the Underworld. He is dark and mysterious, but as I read the story, I realised he is the most sympathetic and loneliest person I have ever read as a character! I would definitely go through the underworld if Henry was in charge! The sequel to this story is Goddess Interrupted and will be available early April. I have already pre-ordered my copy!
