Seraphina Parrish learns that she is not your typical teenager whist out celebrating her sixteenth birthday with her father and his girlfriend. After a series of unexplainable events, Seraphina is sent to live with her aunt in Chicago and learns of a family connection to a secret society. She meets a boy, Bishop, who seems to be stalking her.Seraphina is a character that I found to be extremely conflicted and, as she begins to explore who she is and what she can do, she gains confidence in her abilities.Michelle Warren has created a fantastic world where normal and paranormal collide seamlessly. When I first started reading this book, I found it a little slow to begin with. But once I got into the book, I began to enjoy the story more. By the end of the book, I was dying to know what would happen next! Luckily, this is a trilogy, so I'm looking forward to reading the rest of Seraphina's story.
