received a copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review.I wasn't sure what to expect, when I started reading this book, but I was pleasantly surprised to find out that I absolutely LOVED it!Dan Rawlings is an investigative reporter. He is looking to find the biggest scoop of his career - the missing heir to the Hamilton fortune. He is a fantastic character. He is a very tenacious person. Nothing will stop him from his mission. However, what he finds in Southern Louisiana is a lot more than he bargained for! This is a fantastic story, which starts pretty tamely, but as the story progressed, the action soon hotted up! By the time I got to the end of the first chapter, I was completely hooked! There are more magical creatures in this book then you can shake a stick at! Witches, dragons, trolls, fairies, angels and even a vampire or three, all show up between the pages. There are different points of view from the various characters in this book, and this brings it to life in such a way that I felt like I was actually observing the goings on in front of my eyes. There are surprises and twists in this story that kept me wondering what was going to happen next! This is Sonia Brock's debut novel. Hopefully, the next book is on it's way to being written, because this book didn't feel like it was written by a beginner; I am most definitely looking forward to reading the next book in the series! It was full of Southern warmth and wit, which appealed to me. It was also very well researched. There is a glossary of terms used in the book, along with a list of characters from literary and historical references. This was most enlightening, as I hadn't heard of some of them before.I highly recommend this book for teens and those who love YA, Fantasy, Supernatural, Paranormal or Action Adventure genres. - Lynn Worton
