Witchblood

Witchblood - Emma Mills I was given a copy of this book by the author in return for an honest review.I have read a few vampire books, but this story is completely unique! I loved it!Jess James is a normal teenager living in Manchester, England. She is a fascinating character. She has a boyfriend, Luke. However, it's not until she meets the enigmatic Daniel that her destiny takes a completely dramatic change.Daniel is a vampire, who rescues Jess from a brutal attack. He too is a fascinating character. He is mysterious and intriguing. I love the description of his eyes: deep dark chocolate and mesmerizing. *SIGH*This is a completely different vampire story, which is told poignantly from the point of view of Jess. I found myself completely engrossed in the story, and I struggled to put it down! There are some great characters besides Jess and Daniel. Eva is a very girly vampire. She just LOVE'S to shop! We get to meet some very scary characters in this book too! I don't know why, but I took an instant dislike to the vampire leader, Sebastian. Maybe I'll find out that I was wrong about his character, but I get the most creepiest feeling whilst reading the scenes with him and Jess. They left me very edgy!I was completely taken aback with certain revelations near the end of the book, and then disgusted with the actions of the relevant character for what they allowed to happen. However, there may be a reason why that character did what they did, but does that make it right? You will have to read the book to decide for yourself, because I'm still not sure.Emma Mills has written a completely unique YA vampire romance that is full of complex emotions and situations. I love the way she has created the vampires with a hierarchy that has rules and regulations, although I don't care very much for the leader! I am now looking forward to reading the second book, Witchcraft, to find out what happens next! I highly recommend this book if you love a fantastic YA paranormal romance with vampires, witches and angels. - Lynn Worton (WaAR)
