Pierce Ackles and the Leather Apron: The Tale of Jack the Ripper

Leather Apron - D.B. Harrop Review 6******I received an ARC copy of this book by the author in return for an honest review. This book gripped me from the first page! I absolutely LOVED it!Detective Pierce Ackles is a fantastic character! He has a very sharp mind, and is extremely thorough for a detective of the time. He would certainly give Arthur Conan Doyle's "Sherlock Holmes" a run for his money! His observational skills are superb! I would love to get hold of his little note book - it would make a fascinating read, and give me an insight into his thought process. This book is a fantastic thriller that takes a dark moment in history, and gives a fresh interpretation to the activities of "Jack The Ripper", and the grizzly murders in 1880's London's East End. As I started reading this story, I was gripped by the brutality of the murders. The author must have researched this subject thoroughly, and it showed in the descriptions of the crime scenes. They are quite descriptive and are pretty disturbing. Although the real Ripper was never found, the author has gathered a whole host of suspects in this story. I loved how the story flowed, with red herrings aplenty! There were lots of twists that kept you guessing! I didn't even see the main twist coming! It completely surprised me!D.B. Harrop has written a fantastic thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat! I am adding this author to my favourites list! I am now looking forward to reading more of this author's work. I highly recommend this book if you enjoy thrillers, crime novels and mysteries. - Lynn Worton
