Alice Parker And The Mind Magician

Alice Parker and the Mind Magician - Nicola Palmer Review 6******I received a copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review. This is the second book in the Alice Parker's Adventures series. I completely and absolutely LOVED it.Alice Parker is a very special 13 year old girl. She has a secret: she's a Fully Integrated Winged Person (Finwip for short). She is distantly related to Woodland Folk mentioned in fairy tales, and has unique wings that make her special, even in Finwip society. She is a very likeable character; she is stubborn and wilful, but she is also extremely kind. I love her sense of humour! This is a fantastic series for children from the ages 9 - 12, but I'm sure adults would enjoy it too! Alice is still learning what it means to be a Finwip in this story, but when the people in her home town start to act strange, Alice and her friends are drawn into another amazing adventure. There is enough danger, intrigue and mystery in this story to capture even the most fussiest of readers (or those with short attention spans). As I read this story, I was quickly drawn back into the lives of the Finwips. I would really love to meet them (or become one!). I found myself holding my breath as Alice faced off with her foe; he was extremely scary! As the story came to a conclusion, it finished on a cliffhanger that has me champing at the bit to read the next book in the series.Nicola Palmer has written an exciting adventure series for children that will keep them entertained and captivated from the first page. I highly recommend this book (and series) to children from the ages 9 upwards. - Lynn Worton
