City of Bones: Mortal Instruments, Book 1

City of Bones - Cassandra Clare Clary Fray is a normal teenager living in New York City, but when she follows some other teenagers in a nightclub, she finds things are far from normal. She meets Jace, Isabelle and Alec and finds out they are Shadowhunters, demon hunters. Clary, along with her best friend Simon, gets pulled into their world. When Clary find out that she is also a shadowhunter by birth, she realises that her life will never be the same again.I had heard of this book on the review grapevine and was curious to know what all the hype was about. When I got this book, I was completely immersed in the world that Cassandra Clare had created. I absolutely loved it!Clary Fray is a fantastic character. She seems to be a typical teen, but she has an ability she didn't know about. She can see through glamours, to see the world hidden behind them. The other characters in this book are fantastic too!Her best friend Simon is a great guy. He's gorgeous, funny and sweet, and I wish I had a friend like him!Isabelle is a wonderful character. I actually had thought she was a bit stuck up at first, but she grew on me!Alec is Isabelle's brother, and has a warm and loving character.Jace is swoon-worthy! I love his sense of humour - it's so sharp you could cut yourself with it! I can see why Clary would start to fall for him.If you haven't already read this book, then I suggest you do so! This story is fast paced and kept me turning the pages! The world Cassandra has created is so life like, I keep expecting to see a werewolf or a vampire sitting in a cafe having dinner! I highly recommend this YA/Paranormal book if you love a fantastic story, with some wonderful characters that will take you on a wild ride!
